B stands for boiled:
for peanuts in the fall.
Chapped lips come quickly:
of course they do.
D is for deck the halls
with ghosts that say “Boo!”
E stands for every vendor,
At Christmas Made in the South,
And F is for fried fruit pies,
That melt in your mouth
G is for Georgia,
the best kind of Dawgs.
H is for hunting:
doves, deer, and hawgs.
I is for in the air,
where the farming dust stays,
J is for joggers,
For the occasionally windy day.
K stands for keeping up,
Which you better, should you bike
(Or walk in the woods-
Fall’s perfect for a hike.)
L stands for leaves,
which North Georgia does the best
M is for muscadine
A better grape than the rest.
N is for nope:
don’t bring the boots out.
Because in O (for October)
It’ll still be hot, no doubt.
P is for protein,
Smoke it on low,
Keep space on the table
For where the brisket’ll go.
Q’s for quilts:
Bring ‘em out to cover those toes.
R is for Rubbermaids,
holding fall clothes.
S is for stew
of the Brunswick persuasion.
T stands for tailgating
with all of Dawg nation.
U is for under
the big clock in Perry
V stands for victory,
The grass isn’t as hairy!
W is for woodsmoke:
The perfume of the fall!
X means eXamine:
“Ref, what was that call?!”
Y is for the yelling
Of kids at Fall Fest.
Z is for zippers:
On jackets and vests.
