Happy First Saturday of November!
I feel a little odd saying that, as I could have sworn last Saturday was the first one, but- what in the world am I thinking?!- that was actually Halloween.
Close in date, but vastly different in function and appearance.
From goblins to gratitude: IT’S THE AMERICAN WAY!
And November brings with it the opportunity to be grateful for the blessings and gifts in your life. Therefore, many Americans skip it to decorate for Christmas.
Again, IT’S THE AMERICAN WAY!
Look, if that’s you, feel no shame.
You do your thing, and you do so merrily. If Christmas brings you joy, bring out the tinsel!
Me personally, I just hate to go to Christmas decor when the Thanksgiving colors and floral options are incredible in and of themselves.
No matter.
(And I also am throwing stones from a glass house: I’ll be going to Christmas Made in the South this afternoon, and I will love every minute of it.)
At any rate, I thought it to be a worthwhile endeavor to be thankful this morning,
Here on the first November Saturday.
I know it’s been a bit of a raucous week, what with the elections and all, but happy or sad as you may have been Tuesday, that doesn’t change this:
All of our cups are overflowing. God has poured out His blessings on us, and personally, I feel I would be remiss if I didn’t call out some of those things. .
Here are ten things I’m grateful for this morning:
- I got a great night’s sleep last night.
- I have a stinking golden retriever sitting on the coach beside me. He needs a bath desperately, but few things are cuter than him all curled up.
- The sun is shining, and the morning feels a lot cooler than it did yesterday.
- We have a fall day full of football and outside time ahead of us.
- Trey and I will be around the house together this weekend.
- We’re both sipping fancy coffee, as last weekend, I got some Chobani coffee creamer. It’s a great weekend treat.
- This past week, I met with my Functional Medicine Fairy Godmother, Kristin Oja, and got a good report.
- We picked up some pizza last night, and as always Jo’s Pizza in Hawkinsville did not disappoint.
- The youths started working on their first big essay this week, and overall, it’s going well. I’m exhausted every day by 3:00, but it’s a good tired, I promise.
- I’m writing right now, and here in a bit, I will be working out. I have a healthy mind and a healthy body. That’s more than enough for me.
And as always-
I’m grateful Jesus died to save a wretch like me- that He chose to hang on a cross, mutilated, for my sake (and for your sake, too!).
That eternal blessing would have been more than enough. I don’t deserve that in the least.
And yet, our Good God chose to make sunsets, golden retrievers, and pizza too.
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!
